Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra greets nation on Independence Day; hails sacrifices made by troops

Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra on Wednesday wished all of India a Happy Independence Day.

Hailing the sacrifice of the freedom fighters, Subhash Chandra said that the sacrifices, and the work done by the freedom fighters was why India has attained independence. He also hailed the sacrifices made by the troops. "The nation is your debt for protecting this priceless gift of freedom and Mother India," he said.

Earlier, after unfurling the Tricolour at the Red Fort, Prime Minister began his speech hailing six women officers of the Indian Navy, who circumnavigated the globe recently.

Raising the issue of One Rank One Pension as demanded by Army personnel, the Prime Minister said, "The OROP demand was also pending for decades. People of India, our brave Army personnel had faith in us and we were able to take a decision on OROP. We will always take decisions in the interests of our nation."
