Days after a gang conducted a loot in a house in Gopalpura area, the city police searched the accused and arrested three, including maid Parveen Khatun. The trio had been hiding in Ghaziabad city. Interestingly, one of the accused had even promised to marry Parveen and even presented an engagement ring for which he visited her at the house and checked the entire house during the process.
The Love Angle
It was after their arrest that the cops found out about the entire story behind the loot. “Parveen Khatun made a fake identity as Priya Sahu and started working as a maid. One of the accused befriended her through a random mobile call. The man informed her about himself and after speaking with her for a few days, proposed to marry her. To remove any doubt of his conviction, the man travelled to meet Parveen and gave her a ring to wear as a mark of engagement. The man had come alone and conducted a thorough recce of the house from the inside. Meanwhile, his accomplices conducted a thorough recce of the area and the alleys from which they can come and flee,” officials said.
The Investigation
After the loot came to light, the cops registered a case and initiated investigation. “The men had fled with 2.30 lakh rupees, three mobile phones, seven-kilo silver, jewellery and 300-gram gold along with a car. A special team had been formed under senior officials. Two units from this team were sent to West Bengal to develop on certain leads. Meanwhile, a third unit was tasked with gathering intelligence and conduct the technical investigation. The team located Parveen Khatun at Ghaziabad after which cops rushed to the place and nabbed her along with two other accused,” officials said.
Cautious Miscreants
The accused knew the ways police can reach them and thus they were being cautious. “They were changing their locations quickly and due to bad weather, it became tough to get an accurate location also. The teams did not sleep for three nights,” officials said.
Details Taken From Maid
The accused even learned about the elderly couple’s sleeping habits. “They found out through Parveen about the family members, their sleeping patterns and the rooms where they sleep. They informed Parveen of their plans and thus the woman kept the main door unlocked so they could enter. The men entered and conducted the loot,” officials said.
